It was great last Friday to meet students at Cromwell Community College, Chatteris and tour the school with principal Jane Horn. There was a huge amount of positivity which was great to see, and it provided an opportunity to hear first-hand from students as to what they want me to be focussing on in Westminster.
Students raised a wide range of issues, from the EU referendum, voting age, school funding, leisure facilities in Chatteris and the vacant Tesco site for which uses varied from a possible huge trampoline site to it being sub-let to an alternative supermarket supplier.
Part of the visit included a tour of the library, which is a wonderful resource for students. It fits with the focus on literacy which I am working on with schools across the constituency, and whilst some schools have prioritised e-books it is pleasing to see how Cromwell Community College has recognised the value of keeping their library space.
