Earlier this month I updated constituents that the DfE’s Opportunity Area programme offered all qualified teachers working in schools within Fenland and East Cambridgeshire free training for National Professional Qualifications which usually cost between £450 and £7,000.
As a result of Fenland and East Cambs being in the Opportunity Area programme teachers are now eligible to access professional development programmes free of charge via the Teaching and Leadership Innovation Fund. Teachers will have the opportunity to increase their skills, confidence and knowledge in a range of areas including leadership, STEM subjects, phonics and managing challenging pupil behaviour.
Any teachers who wish to take advantage of this training should email OpportunityAreas.EAST@education.gov.uk. These are fantastic opportunities to upskill our local teachers and ones that I hope to see many taking advantage of. I look forward to updating constituents of the further benefits of Government awarding our area Opportunity Area status in the future.
