Last month I wrote to the Chief Director of Economy, Transport and Environment at Cambridgeshire County Council (CCC) to raise with the Highways team concerns which residents of Hook Road, Wimblington expressed. Hook Road is a single track road and recently, has suffered from a steep increase in speeding. Drivers have taken to driving on the grass verge, or on residents’ gardens so they may pass each other without slowing down. The result of this is excess mud on the road and one resident have had their bollards knocked down.
I am therefore pleased to receive a letter, from the Network and Highway Manager at CCC, Jonathon Clarke, stating that they will address the problem down Hook Road. CCC plan to install an official passing place along Hook Road, so drivers may pass without driving on the grass verge or gardens, moreover, they will replace the resident’s bollards which had been knocked down.
