Leverington Sports and Social Club have exciting plans for a new multi-use games area on the old tennis and netball courts and a possible running track around the pitch. This is part of ongoing work which includes the recent addition of flood lights which will make a real difference this winter.
The club has grown significantly in recent years thanks to the fantastic work of local volunteers. Some of the children’s football teams are now at full capacity. A major fundraising effort is underway, and it was good to meet the club committee members to discuss how I can support them, including liaising with grant giving bodies. Securing extra investment will enable more children to play football and attract new sports to the club, including new groups such as for disability sport. We need to make it easier for people to be active which is good for the their health, and I look forward to seeing the exciting plans develop.
