My letter to the local funding body set to receive a further £37.6 million from the Government next month highlights a number of new concerns.

It has emerged today that comments made to me by the Chief Executive at our meeting on 20th January were untrue, and that they have privately “apologised profusely” to the Cambridgeshire County Council official concerned. It remains to be explained why they made serious allegations at a meeting with me that were untrue, why they have not written to me to correct this error of judgement, or what disciplinary action has been taken.

I will be raising this matter with the National Audit Office.
