I have recently met with Aiden Thomas, Chief Executive of Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust (CPFT) to discuss access to children’s mental health provision. Despite government spending record amounts on mental health provision, parents and teachers alike are still informing me that access to children’s mental health service is inadequately serving our constituency.
I have expressed these concerns to Aiden Thomas and requested for the patient pathway for young people’s mental health provision to be clearer. I would also like to see a developed strategy for addressing the needs in North East Cambridgeshire, which are higher than elsewhere in the county.
I look forward to working closely with CPFT in the New Year to establish much needed improvements to young people’s mental health support.
