Opening up the countryside delivers welcome leisure benefits as well as being great for health and wellbeing. Well done therefore to Ely-Harewood Rotary Club and Cambridgeshire Acre on a great event at the weekend where in conjunction with landowners such as the Environment Agency they opened up land adjacent to the waterways for runners, cyclist and those out for a stroll.

It was a pleasure to join this successful event and I hope it will lead to more opportunities to work with landowners to make the countryside more accessible in ways which both protect our farms and wildlife whilst also offering beautiful walks which enhances the quality of life for all who live in or visit the Fens.
