A number of constituents have contacted me about possible military intervention in Syria.
There is no more important vote in Parliament than deciding whether to commit military forces. This is a decision I will take with great care. The House of Commons has already agreed military action in Iraq and given the lack of a clear border between Iraq and Syria, it is important to consider whether this existing action should extend to include Syria.
I listened carefully to the Prime Minister’s statement to the House on 26 November and thought it very helpfully set out both the grounds for acting as well as the risks of not intervening.
I agree with the position that the Prime Minister has put forward. His statement which sets this out can be found here
