The Railway in Whittlesey reopens this weekend after a £300,000 refurbishment by Heineken, one of their largest investments in the country, and the relaunched pub looks fantastic.
Yesterday l was shown around by Landlord Simon Baines and got to pull the first pint, using the new Heineken Smart Dispenser which ensures each pint is of the same high quality.
With a log burner for cold days and an enclosed garden for children when it is warmer, together with a brand new kitchen and free wifi, the Railway is a great new addition to Fenland. Just a few miles from Peterborough, I am sure it will also be popular with those from further afield especially if wanting a Sunday roast.
Simon is an experienced landlord returning back to the area after managing pubs elsewhere, and is creating ten new jobs for Fenland residents.
Simon said “We have already had residents asking if we are open but l have had to tell them that they are going to have to wait until Sunday.”
I want to wish Simon and his team all the very best for their new business venture.
