I am currently working with a group of students from the University of Cambridge who has set up a ‘think tank’, the Wilberforce Society.  Whilst researching for a Public Accounts committee hearing I discovered that if you live in North East Cambridgeshire you are 30% less likely to go to university.  This needs to change and therefore, in collaboration with the Wilberforce Society I am examining what might be done to ensure that those who have the talent to go to a top university are encouraged to apply.  Today I welcomed them to the House of Commons where they presented their interim findings and having seen this I have high hopes for the full report to be published later in the year.
