Doddington Scouts cook up a £5,000 treat
The 1st Scouts Group in Doddington is celebrating winning much needed cash to modernise their meeting hall’s kitchen
The 1st Scouts Group in Doddington is celebrating winning much needed cash to modernise their meeting hall’s kitchen. The hall, which is used by Beavers, Cubs and Scouts each week, had essential repairs to the roof completed after tirelessly fundraising last year.
Their next project is to renovate their kitchen which is in urgent need of modernisation. The aim is to get the kitchen completely refitted and made safer and more user-friendly for all their section members including children as young as 6 who take part in vital cookery lessons. They also plan to hire out their hall to the wider community to increase the facilities in the village.
The Scout Group submitted its application to the Aviva Community Fund competition and after receiving hundreds of votes were awarded a healthy sum of £5,000. Well done to all involved in this fundraising project.
