BUDGET 2020

The Chancellor delivered his Budget today. Rightly so, the focus was on easing the economic impact of COVID-19. There were also plenty of measures that will benefit North East Cambridgeshire:

- Raising the National Insurance Contributions threshold, saving people just over £100 a year

- Fuel duty frozen for another year, making it cheaper at the pumps

- Alcohol duty rises frozen, ensuring taxes on alcoholic drinks won’t be going up

- £2.5bn made available to fix potholes and upgrade roads, including the Ely to Cambridge A10 junction

- £600bn is to be spent on roads, rail, broadband and housing by the middle of 2025
