March Bears Rugby Club
March Bears Rugby Club has some ambitious and exciting plans for the future. It was fantastic to see the energy and drive of the management team – who are all volunteers – as they explained their proposals with such passion and professionalism when I visited last week. The club has grown incredibly over the last year, attracting playing members from the age of four to 75, and they tell me they have outgrown the current site at Elm Road, which is shared with March Athletic Club and March Town Youth Football Club. Hence, their ambitious plans to buy and develop a new March Bears home ground and club at Knights End Road. I’m a strong supporter of community sport and it has been fabulous to watch the club flourish and grow recently. The physical and mental health benefits of local sport plus the camaraderie and sense of belonging to a team should never be underestimated. The March Bears vision could have a transformative effect on sporting provision in the area and I look forward to following their progress and supporting as the plans develop.
