A47 Guyhirn junction

The A47 Guyhirn junction improvement scheme is due to start next month. Dualling the A47 between Peterborough and Wisbech is important for growing our economy and is of key benefit to residents, which is why I continue to make the case for this in Parliament and beyond. While this work focuses solely on the junction between the A47 (Fen Road to South Brink) and the A141 (March Road), it is an important step forward and the longer term gains will be significant. There will, of course, be some short term pain with a temporary 30mph speed limit, two temporary roundabouts, narrow lanes, noise, and some road closures at the start and later in the project. The Highways England plans include increasing the size of the roundabout by creating two lanes on all approaches to the roundabout which will reduce congestion, improve journey times and increase safety. This will include an additional lane over the existing carriageway on the River Nene Bridge. The project should be complete by April 2022. Further information is available here:
