Wisbech High Street

It’s really good to see continued progress on Wisbech High Street to address the issue of derelict buildings. Many of you will know this is a particular interest of mine and I have campaigned since becoming an MP for councils to work with landlords to take responsibility for the state of the buildings they own or use enforcement action. Therefore it’s great to see works in train on bringing the derelict first floor of 13-17 High Street back into use for the first time in more than 30 years; as well as work due to start on new shops and flats at 11-12 High Street following demolition works last year after the council’s purchase of the building from its previous owner to save it from further dilapidation. These are great projects from Fenland District Council’s Wisbech High Street Project that will both rejuvenate our High Street with retail and residential premises and rid it of eyesore buildings.
