Covid -19 vaccination
I think everyone has been delighted to hear about the success of the vaccination programme which is averaging more than 2.5 million doses a week and has just created new targets to offer the vaccine to everyone in the top nine priority groups by 15 April and the rest of the adult population by the end of July. In North East Cambridgeshire, more than 34,200 people have been vaccinated with at least one dose. That’s 28.4% of our total population. At the rate we’re going, those figures are already out-of-date! More than 15,000 under 70s have had at least one vaccine dose in the constituency which shows we’re already storming ahead with the next priority groups. I’d like to thank everyone involved in this great effort for their dedication and collaboration. Our NHS workers and volunteers are showcasing to the rest of the world just how it is done. Combined with the Prime Minister’s roadmap out of lockdown, it gives me real confidence that we’ve turned the corner in the fight against this virus. Of course, we’re not quite out of the woods yet so please continue to follow the guidelines and keep yourselves and your families safe.
