Stop the Incinerator

There has been little movement recently from the developer MVV on the proposals for a huge incinerator in Wisbech with no further submissions, and I remain strongly opposed to this flawed scheme. In fact it is surprising that any developer would want to waste money on such an unsuitable proposal. However to ensure we are well prepared ahead of any next steps, I arranged for a team of senior elected Wisbech representatives to meet Robert Jenrick MP, Secretary of State for Housing Communities and Local Government last week. We were able to set out our concerns regarding the incinerator, discuss levelling up, and generally strengthen relationships between Fenland and the department for local government. Thanks to the newly elected Wisbech Mayor Andrew Lynn, and district and county councillors Sam Hoy and Steve Tierney for joining me. We have a very useful meeting and I will continue to keep a watching brief on the incinerator issue, liaise with local councillors, and update you have further information if and when an official application is made.
