Princess of Wales Hospital

I’m pleased to see the redevelopment plans for the Princess of Wales Hospital have gone through the planning committee stage with the thumbs up from officers at East Cambs District Council. Littleport Councillor David Ambrose-Smith “I am so pleased that this has been sorted and is great news for residents of Littleport.” The redevelopment is good news for the local community and highlights the importance of investing in local services that can be delivered close to home. While it’s undisputed that complex, specialist care needs to be focused in centres of excellence, we must continue to ensure that low risk, high volume, routine service can be delivered locally – and that those services should be delivered in buildings that are fit for purpose, welcoming to patients, and every bit as good as the large regional hospitals. I know Cambridgeshire Community Services NHS Trust has been engaging with NHS England/NHS Improvement to develop the business case for the redevelopment of the Princess of Wales and hopes to have an outline case completed by the end of next month.
