Visit to Cromwell College
It was great to visit Cromwell Community College in Chatteris to see its £14 million transformation to become the first all-through school in Cambridgeshire. The first ever reception class is nearing the end of its first year, soon to become the school’s first ever Year 1 class. In six years, the college will provide all-through education from 4-18 in purpose-built primary and pre-school provision. Executive Headteacher Jane Horn told me about the progress of the college and we had a look at the new buildings, including an additional 12 secondary teaching classrooms as well as science labs, sports pitches and play areas. The new primary provision will help meet the increasing demand for school places in Chatteris and the surrounding areas. It is striking having previously lived on the same street just how much the buildings at Cromwell Community College have changed in recent years and the huge progress that has been made, which is a big tribute to the hard work of Mrs Horn and her entire team.
