Wisbech Tennis Club
Six year ago Wisbech Tennis Club had only four grass courts, which were often unplayable due to the weather, with no floodlights and
a chemical toilet. So it was great today to join players at Wisbech Tennis Club to mark the official opening of their latest two new hard courts, building on the two new clay courts I had the pleasure of opening a few years ago. Together with flood lights, a children’s court and clubhouse, it marks a remarkable transformation in facilities and is a huge tribute to the hard work and dedication of Sue Beel, Jane Page, Wendy Cropp and Sue Pitcher and all the members that have put in a massive amount of work to bring this to fruition. The Club now has almost 200 members and continues to grow. It is also reaching out across the community to make tennis more accessible to a wider range of groups. Today it was particularly fitting, as the longest serving club member of over 50 years, that Margaret Mee cut the ribbon for the new courts. Thanks to the Cambs LTA and all the donors that helped support the new courts. If you have not visited the new courts yet why not give it a go. It is a great way to get more active.
