It was great to be shown around the exhibition detailing plans and proposals for the Corn Exchange building in Wisbech. The Grade-II listed North Brink building has a fantastic heritage and pictures chronicling the building’s centuries of history are fascinating, including playing hosts to legends including the Rolling Stones, Jerry Lee Lewis and Shirley Bassey in the more recent history.
The Wisbech Corn Exchange Conservation Trust was founded to preserve and restore the building to provide modern facilities for the community to enjoy. My thanks to chairman Norman Jacobs who showed me around and explained the options being considered including a café/restaurant and offices. More than 200 years since it was first built, it really would be great to see the building used and brought back to life.
